Broken heart

While attempting to put Codie to bed this evening, I turn the lights out and cracked the door open reminding that the only rule is that they must remain in bed or they get a SWAT. He got out of bed, I gave a light spank and he started to be sad....

C: you made me sad
Me: you broke the rule
C: you broke my heart

And it ended

Bednight

Ethan’s cute way to describe how many days until events or when dad’s off work, is measured in the numbers of sleeps he has until he gets there. So when talking and he is thinking about the amount of time he has left, he says, “after bednight”, or when getting ready for bed he says, “is it time for bednight?”

And something else funny, There’s a funny YouTube video that we watched with the girls where this dad refers to himself as dad a Sauris and when his daughters say that phrase He drops everything no matter what it is and acts like a velociraptor and will either eat whatever it is they ask him about or will rip the trash apart etc. So we’re sitting in the car and Ethan starts asking if mama-saurus would like a piece of cake and then when I didn’t answer the first time he says does “Kari-saurus” wanna piece a cake?

FHE Lesson ideas

In sitting with Ethan at the computer to discuss what he would like to teach tonight for FHE, he replies

" only three fings..bones, blood, and lava..uh hum. let's write that down!!"

He is getting more interested in learning about letters and words so I'm thinking its time for some preschool activities!!

Cody is such a joy to our family. He has this cute smile that just melts your heart and is such a great little snuggle bug when he wants to be. Lately his vocabulary is more advanced as well as his thought process and it all comes out, without a filter. He is also still such a sponge and repeats or copies his siblings. Here are some of the things he has done or said lately:

  • He is obsessed with his hand puppet alligator. He takes it in the bath, pool, bed and in the car.
  • Says "ti red" when he gets tired.
  • had become a pretty picky eater. For some time he loved broccoli, but his palate is becoming more selective
  • says "so rude" or "don't touch me" or "get your hands off of me" when he doesn't like something
  • loves to destroy all Paiges room and Legos
  • last week he colored the carpet with my MAC lipstick($20 a tube x2), drew with mascara all over the bed sheets and blankets, and squirted my eye cream all over the place.
  • loves to sit and be read to. " will you read wis me"
  • refers to himself in third person as creature. for example one morning he came in and said, "creature's hungry"
  • love to see pumpkins and "spooky ghosts" or spooky things with Halloween coming up.
  • He escapes the house frequently- like over to Daryl and JoDee's house or in the garden, or around the back of the house...
  • Will say...super cat speed, or ancient speed of the tiger, as said on cartoons
He is just the sweetest, aside from his complete disregard for listening to directions, and we sure love him. I cant believe he will be 3 in alittle over a month. Time is just going way too fast.

Where in the World has time gone?

Life has seemed to go by in a blink of an eye. Here we are in August 2020. We have added two sweet boys to our family, attended dental school and graduated, moved states, and now are living life as a family of 6 in Ridgefield, Washington since I last posted. Currently Garrett works in Kelso at Highlander Dental where he is loving the Dentist life. He has great support staff and takes great care of his patients. I am home with our kids (COVID-19 ended school in March and went to distance learning, and our state is still in only phase 2 of re-opening) where we are soaking up the nice weather. Mackenzie will be 14 in five days. Paige just turned 10 last month while on vacation to Alabama, Ethan is 4, and Cody is 2. Life is full of goodness and blessings even when the world around us a everything but normal.

Ethan lately has become completely, 100%, all about DAD. He looks to him in everything he does. Examples of this include:

1. Wrapping a towel around his waist only because that's how dad wears his towel.

2.  While riding his power wheels he will drive right next to Garrett and look over at him to make sure he is doing the same thing and is keeping up, and then gives a big thumbs up.

3.wanting to help prepare and pass the sacrament due to church being at home with COVID

4. wearing a tie like dad for church

5. trying to wave at a neighbor while riding bikes, but fell over. He said he was trying to wave just like Dad

6. After riding into the garage door and coming to me in tears, I asked what happened..." I was trying to ride my bike with one hand like Dad does"

7. Sitting still through the prayer and telling us about each time he remained reverent.

8. In the shower this morning I hear Ethan say, "whats garmets?" Garrett responded with, "they are my underware". Ethan said,"then I wear garmets too!"

Baby #3

What a wonderful, blessed day we have had!! I am currently 18 weeks along and today was my first prenatal visit. We were scheduled for an exam and ultrasound and upon calling me back I learned that since I was well past my first trimester, the routine first visit ultrasound was not going to happen. Since mom had come along and so did Kenzie, I was a bit upset!! Turns out we were able to squeeze in after my exam and labs :) Kenzie thought that the gel on my belly was so awesome!! As we started I let everyone know that I thought we were having a boy. It was very obvious what we were having! This pregnancy has been very different with longer morning sickness, salt cravings, and back pain!! Garrett recorded come of the video as the baby was very active (changing position, raising his arms, yawning, making fists, ect.) It was really neat to watch! So, finally, after 2 years of struggling to get pregnant, we are expecting a sweet baby boy November 1st, 2015!! To continue our ritual, we went to Buy Buy Baby and got some cute outfits and mom bought another outfit and some blankets, followed by a delicious lunch at Portillos!!

Fourth of July Fun!

The girls and I headed up to Flagstaff for a week of cool weather and camping with Grandma Vickie. We enjoyed the rain, walks, games, and Kenzie loved riding her bike around the campground. She found an older couple who had 3 dogs and she made sure to stop by and visit multiple times a day! We also drove into Flagstaff where we saw Despicable Me 2 which was awesome. Dad and Garrett drove up enjoyed the rest of the week with us. For the fourth, we went and visited Walnut Canyon. What a cool place to see as it pertains to the Arizona history that I teach my 4th graders about! We then headed to Winslow where we watched fireworks and played games!

WHoa!!

Umm, well, no excuse for my lack of posting. It seems like as a working mom trying to find the time to get everything done is a struggle. Sooo.... from last August, too much has happened to recap. MAckenzie started 1st grade in Miss Sepulvada's class. She really enjoyed it and made some friends like Curry, and girls from her girl scout troop that she was a part of! Paige had another year at the ECC and loved her teacher Ms.Blanca and Ms.T. Her friends that she saw each morning when I dropped her was Jax Shea, and Jackson. I taught another year of 4th grade. This year was a real struggle and lots of different personalities in my room. I will try to find pictures to recap all that has gone on....

Winslow Trip

In light of Brett and Laura's wedding we decided to get the family together for some fun. We brought up our kayak and brought out the Boy Scout's canoes to go up the creek. I think this was the first time in almost a year that we had all the siblings together. It was a super fun trip that completely wore everyone out! We stopped and bought Subway to pack for lunch, and then paddled up the creek. I took the kayak first but could not keep up with the canoes that had 2 or more paddling so I swapped places with Chris. We saw some cool petroglyphs and the pump house that was used to supply water to Winslow. Garrett brought his scuba masks and his spear pole he made to spear some fish! Saturday was the wedding which looked great! The ceremony was short and sweet, and they had delicious food!! Sunday, we got woken up by Gary calling to tell us to get dressed and head down to the train for a special BNSF commemorative ride. We scrambled out of the house in 15 minutes and boarded the train. That was my first time riding a train! As well as the girls and it was special to know that Grandpa was driving it! Here are the pictures from our weekend!!

She was such a great assistant to the photographer :)

End of First Grade

This first grade year has flown by. Kenzie enjoyed her teacher Miss Sepulveda and her class for the most part. It seemed that she bounced between her friends and enjoyed playing with them all. She was a Daisy girl scout and sold cookies this year for her troop to raise money. She would come to my room after school and dreaded when I had crosswalk duty. She loved to visit the other 4th grade teachers and mooch fun treasure box surprises from them! Shannon always was sweet to her and made her feel special! She also loved to get into some students' desks and use their supplies to complete her homework. When I would tutor Madisen, she loved to take her sister KK candy when we would meet them outside. She also loved playing with them both! She went on a fun field trip this year to the World Wildlife Zoo!! Here are some pictures from her end of year party!!
