MacDonalds Ranch

So last Saturday we went with Karl and Kasey out to a cute ranch/pumpkin patch. They had fun horse rides, a petting zoo, a hay ride out to pick your pumpkin (which were being brought in via tractors in big cardboard boxes like at the store-funny) and bull ropin'! We were only there for an hour and a half but it was plenty of time!

The kids loving the horse ride!

On our way to the pumpkin patch! The whole ride the kids really seemed to notice all the horse poop along the way!

Say cheese!

Our cute pumpkin~only $12 dollars!!

She is so stinkin' cute and getting so big!!

My gift to Trisha

For Trisha's high school graduation I decided to make her something cool that she could have for a long time, and since I enjoy quilting, I decided on a quilt and matching pillow cases in her favorite colors! It took quite awhile and I finally finished the binding after I had Paige. So here is the cool quilt...

Popcorn anyone???

Garrett has wanted theatre quality popcorn for sometime now and so finally for his birthday the time came and we found a great deal on craigslist. We found a popcorn supplier and got us the popcorn, oil/salt packets, as well as some seasoning! It has brought a whole new meaning to MOVIE NIGHT!! We love it!!

Watching it start popping!

The Story Teller

Since Garrett is taking 19 credit hours and doesn't get home until later in the evening he has been really trying to spend some time with the girls at night. So, lately I have come into the girls' room to see some book reading going on before bed. What a great daddy!

Blessing Day

Today has been a great day! Another special day with our growing little family. Garrett did an awesome job of blessing Paige in church, followed by a fun dinner at our house. We had Cafe Rio sweet prok tacos and salads, black beans, pico, homemade guac made by Kim, and a wonderful cake made by Kristin. It was AWESOME! We had all of my siblings and spouses, parents, Grandma, Garretts mom, and sisters. Needless to say we had a full house!I am so thankful for my sweet husband who honors and uses his priesthood for our family. He is such and example to me and I am so grateful for his willingness to serve and for all of his rightous desires. Here are some fun pictures from today!

Miss Mommy

Kenzie has been such a big helper since Paige arrived and loves to act like a mommy as well! She nurses, holds, and burps her baby like a champ :) She even asked to put on my homemade moby wrap for her cabbage patch doll. She loves to hold her sister and help out when I need it. I am so lucky to have such a natural!!

Riding Miss Ruby

Saturday the 18th we took Mackenzie to do her most favorite thing...ride a horse!! The Dewitt Stables here in Mesa have 2 ponies that little kids can ride on their own and this time Mackenzie chose to ride Ruby. She even got a fun pink helmet to wear and couldn't wait to get going. She has such a love for horses, it is so cute! Garrett led the horse for awhile but when inside the arena she got to do it all on her own. It was good that we went in the morning as it got hot fast and she even left without a tear drop this time. We usually are bracing ourselves for a major meltdown, but she did great!

Enjoying being a mom

So this is the first year since I started having babies that I have been lucky enough to be home everyday. I was a bit worried that my life would get boring and I would want to get out, but as I have learned that 2 kids are more time consuming than 1, I have much more to do at home. Between the nursing and diapers, dishes and laundry, shopping, and meal preperation, spending time with Kenzie, there doesn't seem to be enough time in a day to get it all done! This semster seems to busy super busy as Garrett is taking 19 credit hours and would have no time to help with the kiddos if I were working. We barely get to see him as it is! So, I am so grateful that I get to be home watching the sweet interaction of my girls, and the way in which they are growing and changing each day. My partriachal blessing says that the "most important job for me on this earth is to be a worthy wife and mother...". This reminds me what I need to be doing, whats most important, and that I can do alittle better everyday.

Paige is 2 months

Man, time is flying by!! She was 2 months last saturday and growing like a weed. Paige loves sleeping on her tummy and gets really antsy when she is ready to be laid down and left alone. She is still nursing and takes the bottle every 3 hours. When fed just a bottle she downs a whole 4 ounces in no time! She is a great eater! She has been smiling like crazy and starting to "coo" and talk to us. She loves daddy holding her and talking to her, but if he is wearing a hat, she does not like that at all!! She just looks at him very confused. Paige loves being held and cuddled when she wants to be. Her little muscles are getting stronger as she holds her head up pretty well. Garrett is ensuring a bicep workout as he holds her arms and she pulls in towards him. She is a very happy baby and we love her sweet disposition! In another week we have to start her vaccines, which are no fun at all for both of us. Pictures to come of my cute girl!!

What fun kenzie has holding her
"Paige Roof"as she would say!

What a cute little smile! She makes me melt each time I see it!

A crazy couple of months

So the last couple months we have seen more of the hospital than I care to have. I had the baby, then Garrett had hernia surgery, then one night I woke up with the worst pain of my life that would not go away so I went into the ER and found out I had gallstones. So an appointment with my general surgeon and a week later I was yet again back at the hospital getting my gallbladder removed. I had 4 small incisions for the camera and tools, and recovery was not so fun. My ribcage hurt super bad and percocets where my friends!! It has been almost 2 weeks since my surgery and I am back to normal. I am just awaiting the time when I can start my cardio and weights again!! As for now, no more hospital visits for awhile!!

Paige Updates

So I took her to the Dr. this week and poor little thing has a cold. Which entails congestion that leads to not sleeping well, spitting up more frequently (projectile),hard time breathing, and not nursing as well. On a better note she is getting better and we got her on a formula that is a bit thicker and she spits up way less!! FYI- putting 1 teaspoon of rice cereal in 2 oz. breastmilk also helps babies that spit up a lot or have acid reflux!!She weighed in at 9lb. 110z. WOW!! I guess she is making up for lost time!! These are some cute pictures I have of my Paigers!!

All of the following pictures are between 8/30-9/3/10 at 5 1/2 weeks

And I caught her cute smile!!

Ducks

So Kenzie and I were up early and decided to head to Freestone Park to go feed the ducks. When we got there we saw that the ducks were not on the pond but on a hill eating out of the grass. So luckily we didnt need to go far and started throwing small pieces of bread and they all started quacking and waddling our way! We had a ton of ducks quacking as we fed them and a few brave ones came right up and took a whole bun from kenzie's hand. After that, when they would come up Kenzie would just drop it in fear that they would bite her. After the feeding fest Kenzie decided to chase them all. pretty entertaining!

The 2 white ones were the brave ones who looked the most ragged of the group

Watch out ducks, here she comes...

Sweet Moments

Last night while I was trying to get Paige to sleep in our bed, Kenzie woke up and laid next to Paige, and stroked her head soo sweet and then put her arm over Paige and went back to bed. I wish I had a camera handy, but it just made my heart melt. I could just feel and see the sisterly love that Kenzie has for her little sister. I should have known because when we were driving home from the hospital Kenzie feel asleep in Paiges lap, in the car seat! i can also see it when Kenzie helps calm her down while I am getting a bottle ready by patting her tummy and and saying " hey hey, its ok " then Kenzie yells "mom, she getting fussy, she needs a bottle"! i hope and pray that they always will have a special bond, and love with eachother!! It just makes me feels so grateful and happy to see sweet momnets like that! Love you Kenzie and Paige!

Happy 4th Birthday Kenzie

We were actually on our way home from camping on her special day, which was a long drive and no fun, so we decided last minute to throw her a Tinkerbell party complete with a BBQ, bounce house, and various carnival type games/booths that weekend. My sister made an awesome tinkerbell cake for her:

Thanks Kristin, it ROCKED!! We had games like a bean bag toss, face painting-thanks Misty, balloon animals-thanks Trisha, and a cupcake walk- thanks again Kristin. Garrett planned a fun fishing game as well as a ball toss that each kid won a fish, and of course a pinata!!! It was lots of fun!

Kenzie hitting the pinata

Kenzie getting a ropin' rope for her birthday. She loves tieing things up as well as roping a steer so now she can have at it without creating huge knots for us to undo!

Fun face paiting with Aunt Misty! Kenzie loved her butterfly

All the kids on the bounce house: Evelynne, Carson, Chloe, Noah and Kenzie!

I cannot believe that my baby is 4! Time has flown by sooo fast!! She weighs in at 42 lbs. and is 42 1/2" tall. This year I have seen so much growth in her! She is soo helpful and will do things that we ask. She loves to sleep in our bed at night and is going through the "I'm scared" and "there are monsters" phase. She knows she can get what she wants from her dad, and mom is the stricter of the parents. She loves to read books and work on letters by tracing them on her whiteboard, and naming her flash cards. She is still into horses, likes to color but ends up wanting us to color or draw for her while she watches, loves being home and wathcing movies, and loves to work on projects with dad. Garrett gives her her own wood and tools to use and she is right there beside him. She definately has attitude and when has the pout down when she is mad or doesnt get her way! Her cousin even has picked up the fake cry and pout from Kenzie. Sorry Kristin!Kenzie has a love-hate relationship with her cousin Evelynne. They ask to see eachother and then end up fighting over toys, pouting, ect. She loves her cousin Carson and they enjoy playing together. She loves her sister and has been being a great mommy to her doll and horses by nursing them and putting them in the baby wrap, feeding them a bottle, wiping up their spit-up and putting them to sleep. She's a natural but also a sponge to all that we do with Paige! She has become addicted to treats, and loves to steal drinks of me diet coke!! I just love her to pieces!!Happy Birthday Kenzie!

Paige Ruth Hardy

So sorry this post has taken so long but our sweet little girl has been too much fun!! I went into the hospital at 11am on sat. July 24th for my c-section and got all preped and ready. I of course hate getting the IV started but once it was in I was good to go. We just sat and waited for our time to go into surgery and actually got bumped back due to an emercency c-section. As I was laying there waiting I started to get really nervous and did not want to go into surgery. But luckily, after about 10 minutes of all that, the nurses came in to get me and we walked into the surgery room. I received my spinal and of course 2 seconds later I could not feel my feet and then my butt started to get numb. From the time of the spinal to the time she came out was only about 10 minutes. As I laid there feeling the pressure and pulling I heard them say we had a big baby. Garrett said she looked little and the Dr. argued that she was probably a good 9 pounds. They brought her around for me to see before they weighed her and she looked cheesy and chunky!! Very different from little Kenzie, but soooo cute!! Besides the weight difference, I thought I had given birth to another little Mackenzie. They looked identical. She arrived at 2:16pm and weighed in at 8 lbs. 2 oz and 21 1/4" long. Garrett went with her to get cleaned up as I was getting stitched up. As I laid there I could see the reflection in the lights of my stomach split open and them stitching me up, yup, gross!! Once I was able to go to my room, my parents brought Kenzie in to see her new sister!! She thought she was cute and got to hold her with daddy's help! All of my siblings came to see me that day which was fun to have everyone come by!! I spent 3 days in the hospital and it all went great!!

Here we go:

Our family of 3 about to become 4! This was on our way out to the hospital!

Our princess is here! Chunky and cheesy!
