Tragic Moment Tonight

Kenzie wanted to get her ears pierced over a month ago. So I call and make sure that 2 people are there to pierce both ears. Well, the one was running late so we went ahead and had one ear done. Big mistake. Kenzie freaked out and wouldn't settle down. Garrett talked her through it and the second ear was done in a breeze with little tears and she was so proud of her earrings. She has been so diligent in cleaning them and so excited to have them. So today we go to the water park and when we get back she realizes that her earring is gone. We go purchase new ones and I try to put one in. The back is not going in. So she freaks and the whole way home tells me how she only will have one earring in and not to try to put in a new one. So we get home and she has a huge meltdown totally psyching herself out about it. I gave her two options: take the other one out, and let the ears close, or put in the new ones. 20 minutes later, the earring is out and she is in her room settling down. I go to check on her and she says so calmly, "I am ready for you to try putting them in. I am so sorry mom for what I did" I was so proud that she calmed down, saw that she had over-reacted and was ready to try. So, the new earrings did not go through the back and she was so sweet for giving it a go. I was so proud of her.
