A Surprise for Mackenzie

We have been contemplating a dog for at least a year. Researching different breeds and getting some advice on a good family dog. Each time we go look at the animal control I feel so bad leaving empty handed as Kenzie gets soooo excited and wants to take one home. We have had a few crying sessions as we leave because she wants to bring one home. So, I decided that it would be best for her to not go look with us anymore. As I was looking on Backpage I saw an ad for English Springer Spaniel puppies. i got pretty excited and felt like this was it! The dog we have been looking for. Garrett and I were supposed to go on a date so we drove around so undecided about driving over an hour to Whittman to go get a puppy, and where to eat. We were apprehensive because the liver and white puppy had already been sold. Finally after driving around we grabbed some Arby's and headed out. By the time we got there we were on fumes and there were only 2 puppies left. We couldn't decide which one we wanted so we got both; thinking we will see which one we want and sell the other. We got home and I made kenzie sit on the couch with a blindfold on. Garrett came in and told her to hold her hands out, and he placed the sweetest little puppies in her arms. She giggled and the minute her blindfold came off she LIT UP!!! The look on her face was priceless. She just giggled and said puppies, Hi pups!!

One Happy four year old!!

Two sleeping puppies

The Next morning

The next morning Kenzie sat up in bed and said: " I have to go check on my pups. I will say good morning and they will say I love you mommy!" The entire day Kenzie would not leave them alone. She wanted to constantly touch, hold, and play with them. I will say that she now does what she is asked and as quickly as she can, so she can go play with the puppies. She loves having dogs. Which they are for her and I am so glad that she likes them. Since we got two they have gone straight to sleep at night with no yelping or crying. We are working on the potty training thing. Since I have never really trained a dog this is all pretty new. But I will say I think I am doing a pretty good job so far with Garrett's help!
